CrossFit Esmoriz, a young affiliate gym in the Ovar municipality on Portugal's northern coast, hosted the first edition of Turtle Games on February 14. The doubles competition — open "for all levels" — drew more than 50 pairs, upward of 100 athletes, split into men's and women's divisions for a single nine-station hybrid workout.
Pairs worked through a course combining a run, ski erg, sled push, walking lunges, row erg, box jump overs, echo bike and devil presses, bookended by a second run, with each team choosing how to split the load between its two members. Registration ran through the affiliate's Regybox app and closed a week before the event, on February 7.
In the women's division, Somos Uma Vibe crossed first in 42 minutes 57 seconds, ahead of Ego Out (44:48) and As Testemunhas (45:46) rounding out the podium. The men's division was tighter at the top: Caracóis da Aldeia won in 42:32, with Army Performance (43:06) and RZK Power (43:53) close behind. More than 20 pairs finished in each division.
Prize money and vouchers rewarded the podium in both divisions: €100 in cash plus a €50 voucher for Restaurante H&N and a CrossFit Esmoriz t-shirt for first place, an entry voucher to Hybrid Day Santa Maria da Feira for second, and DropHeat t-shirts for third. The event's partners included Double Condition, Official Cross Gear, Levi Phone Loja, Restaurante H&N, DropHeat and Hybrid Day Santa Maria da Feira.
Team names leaned into the event's playful spirit — from Chamem o INEM to Tartarugas Ninja and Ninja Turtle — reflecting the community atmosphere organizers said they were chasing for the gym's first major competition since CrossFit Esmoriz opened its doors in 2026.
