Prime Hybrid — Espinho Fitness Racing has passed 600 registrations, organisers told Image Media, as its inaugural edition gathers momentum ahead of 26 September at Praça Progresso. The team is now working towards 800 athletes, while the official regulations set a maximum capacity of 1,000.

Co-organised by the Associação Desportiva de Desempenho e Resiliência (ADDR) and Espinho City Council, the event is presented as Portugal’s first fully urban outdoor hybrid fitness race. Praça Progresso will become the main arena, with the running sections extending onto Avenida 8 and surrounding authorised streets.

26 September 2026 · Praça Progresso, Espinho · More than 600 registrations · 8 km + 8 functional stations

Competitors will alternate eight one-kilometre urban runs with SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jump, rowing, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. The programme is designed to test cardiovascular endurance and strength in the heart of the city rather than inside a closed venue.

The competition offers nine prize categories across Singles and Doubles Open and Pro divisions, plus Mixed Doubles. A separate Associative League invites Espinho’s firefighters, police, military, clubs and associations to compete for an independent team classification.

Organisers have also announced prizes with a total value of €3,500, supported by Hôma. Awards ranging from €60 to €240 will be distributed among the top three finishers in each of the nine competition categories, with the value redeemable at Hôma stores across Portugal.

The Open divisions are intended for a broad range of regularly active participants, while the Pro divisions use higher loads. Athletes must be at least 16, and registration includes sports insurance, electronic timing and a finisher medal. Jornal Maré Viva reported that registered athletes also receive a free weekly training plan prepared by coach Bruno Braga to help them build towards race day.

Competition is scheduled to begin at 08:00, with the final athletes expected to finish at 17:30 and the awards ceremony planned for 18:00. Registration remains available through the official Prime Hybrid website.
